I started using Tellico to catalogue my personal library a couple of years ago, stopped for a while because of a transcontinental house-move, and I'm just starting to use it again. I'm still using version 2.3.4, so maybe the features I'd like to see have already been included.
1. Dewey Decimal Classification look-up and automatic entry when creating a new record. For now, I've been doing this "by hand": searching on classify.oclc.org and entering the most-used DDC number in a field named DDC that I created for my collection. 2. British Library CIP record look-up; the records are provided at bl.uk. Thanks to everybody who has worked on Tellico; it really makes managing my library much simpler, and the report I generated from Tellico saved me hours when it was time to create an insurance estimation for the house-move. |

I'll point you to an old email and forum post that is mostly still accurate. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=88753 http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/tellico-u ... 00459.html Take a look at that and if it's too confusing, let me know and I can post more detailed instructions that might help. This is for pulling DDC from the US Library of Congress.
If you have Tellico compiled with z39.50 support, I'd suggest using the COPAC source. Or adding the British Library itself as a source. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=82899#p133420 I'm not sure what CIP is, though, an identifier?
Thanks, you're welcome! |

Hello,
I absolutely love Tellico, and I've been using it for several years now to keep track of my collections. There is one thing that I would really love to have included in terms of functionality, though; that, being the ability to import our ratings for movies from NetFlix. Currently, I have nearly 900 titles from my collection catalogued, and it would be great to not have to go through them one by one to rate them. Thank you in advance! ![]() |

I'll have to check up on some way of accessing Netflix ratings via API or something. You cataloged the movies you've watched on Netflix and want Tellico to read your personal ratings from there, do I have that right? |

They recently shut down/limited their api http://techcrunch.com/2014/06/13/netflix-api-shutdown/
but there are still 3rd parties that will have access

Pretty much, yes. I've cataloged about 900 of the roughly 1,500 movies that I own on DVD, but I have also rated close to 2,800 movies on NetFlix. So, I would simply like to be able to have Tellico pull my ratings from NetFlix for any titles that I have in my collection, in order to make it a little easier to pick a DVD to watch. While I know that NetFlix keeps changing how people can access its API, I figure that there has to be a relatively easy way to do it, since there's even a great GreaseMonkey script that allows you to resort your NetFlix queue several different ways (http://userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/35183). If it can be done, I'm sure alot of people would be thrilled to see the extra functionality added. If not, I know we'll all at least be thankful you tried. ![]() |

I just started using Tellico today to catalog all my books and movies. So far I love the program, but I would like to see if using fictiondb.com would be an option for a upcoming release. I almost always find the books I am entering on there and have to enter things manually.

New data sources are easiest when there is a public API. Trying to screen-scrape or otherwise download the info can get dicey with website changes and terms & conditions. I'll check the fictiondb site, though...is there any way to export your collection from there? Like a CSV file or anything similar? |

I don't have a list of my books on the fictiondb.com, It just seems to let me find what I am looking for many times when other sites don't find the book I am looking for.
I have a large collection of older science fiction that has not been digitalized and is out of print. On another note, I notice that when trying to import a csv file Tellico freezes every time. I use a text editor and create the csv as it is much faster than having to enter each book manually. I have made the csv file with only a few entries to having hundreds of entries. Same response Freeze and I loose any information not saved. Thanks for your time. |

That's a bug that was just fixed in the (very) recent 2.3.9 release. |

Best thing is to wait until your distro does the job for you. There are all kinds of issues (dependencies, updates to name but a couple) with installing from outside your packet managing system. Otherwise tie in a Debian Sid mirror and use it for this package only - should work but beware, there be dragons...

This is a great database manager!
My hat off to Robby for a great job. Thanks Now how about an upgrade tabe or drop down, so when the newer version comes out, you can click on it and it will upgrade Tellico to the latest? |
