Since KDE 4.6 the device manager pops up several remote computers of the local network at work. It is quite annoying seeing this notification each time a computer comes online. Up to now, I have not found an option to disable these notifications.
Does anybody out there have an idea? Or where can I post this as a wish? |

you could try device notifier, it's more configurable, may not do this and not a discontinued project
from kde-look.org "This applet is discontinued!! Since I'm now working directly on the KDE's Device Notifier I won't add any new feature to this one. I'll fix serious bugs, though." http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/De ... ent=106051

I actually use the device notifier as right click on the system tray icon says to me. It was only a translation problem from my side (I use the german localisation and I am not very familiar with the correct english names

since this is new in 4.6beta you should submit a bug report

I am not sure whether this is a feature or a bug. And if it is a bug, to what subsystem this bug should refer to.

I think it's the same problem as several people had with places in dolphin and upnp shares in device notifier (viewtopic.php?f=202&t=91843).
You can vote for the bug here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259377 and here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259472 Or you can forbid upnp in iptables following instructions here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259472#c11 |

UPnP support has been disabled for 4.6 due to these problems. The developers think that it needs tmore refinement before getting it out.
