Maybe I missed the information somehow but how do I get to run Calligra on my Mac?

None of the Calligra developers actually has a Mac, so we cannot port Calligra to OS X or create packages. There have been volunteers who have successfully ported some parts of Calligra, like Krita, to OSX, but they haven't published packages.

I am trying to compile Calligra in Mac OS X - Lion. The link below has the framework and library in order for Calligra to work in Mac OS X. viewtopic.php?f=221&t=102819&p=245669#p245669 It is still figuring how to do this. Noli |

Homebrew has problem working with sycoca system in KDE, so the practical solution is to install calligra through macports, and generate a calligra installer containning all the dependencies. I'll look into how to develop a calligra portfile.

I am trying to compile Krita on OSX, I will post a link to the bin's on the forum when I'm done.
I'm using macports, got most of the dependencies sorted kdebase4 keeps throwing the error 'obsolete port'. |

I just was wondering if anyone had information on how to install Calligra to OS X. If so, would they be willing to share a step-by-step documentation on what worked? Frankly, I have no idea where to even start with this installation.

I know that one of our developers is trying to, and have something running, I hope he is able to share his findings in the not too distant future

Here is a installer package I made several days ago. Try it and report problems, it's likely there are some environment variable not set correctly.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49118477/Calli ... taller.pkg I made more ui enhancements after this version, I'll produce another package when rc2 is out, and push portfile to macports. |

Hi Phil,
Thanks for working on this - I'm two days trying to parse through how to get Calligra installed on a Mac, OSX 10.8. I ran your package, and it seemed to install completely. However - I wasn't then sure where to find the executables. Also, do I need to have X11 (XQuartz maybe) running? Also, I may have muddied the waters in my efforts to do a build - with MacPorts and Fink both installed. Haven't been able to do a build install - likely lack of experience on my part. Anyway, I looked in the MacPorts Application folder, and found a Calligra executable. I double click, and it tries to load, and then loads something called - drkonqi - which then crashes. It may be that I need to clear out all my other efforts, as to directories, and try fresh? Am operating on OSX 10.8.2 Thanks in advance, Dean |

It should not be necessary to start X11/Quartz as KDE applications use Qt - which allows them to function as native Mac OS X applications for the most part.
In terms of the executables to look for, try "calligrawords" and "krita" as several examples. They will probably be at $install_prefix/bin/

I tried it. It doesn't run for me, it appears that drkonqi is not starting. When I try to run /opt/calligra/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi.app/Contents/MacOS/drkonqi directly, I get: 2013-01-06 22:07:57.286 drkonqi[49442:303] The application with bundle ID is running setugid(), which is not allowed. P.S I really hope you can give me uninstall instructions. If I can't install something as an app bundle, I really like to go through MacPorts, just to keep the FS clean. .pkgs make me nervous. P.P.S. Thanks for working on this- I'm quite keen to keep testing it. |
