This applies to Calligra Words, I don't know about the other applications since I haven't used them.
I mostly use Words to view .doc(x) and .odt files sent to me; it's super nice for this use case with its clean GUI and fast startup. I usually hide the dockers to give the document more space, but I have to do it every time since Words doesn't remember the "Show Dockers" state. My wish is to make the "Show Dockers" option persistent. Inge said that he thought that "that's designed to be temporary", which is why I started a discussion here instead of filing a bug report.

Krita already has code for that -- we would need to make that general.

Currently my thoughs around this wider area is to make a "Concentration mode".
It will replace: - hide dockers - hide statusbar - hide rulers - hide toolbars and possibly/probably hide menubar too. But with a small icon somewhere to leave the concentration mode. finally as an option it would go into fullscreen mode too (extra checkbox) all of this would happen with ctrl-h (for hide) as short-cut And yes it would be made persistent. Thought and feed back on this idea would be ery wellcome. It's too late for 2.5 but I plan to have this in 2.6 if people find it a good idea |

+1 for the idea
what I'd also like is something like automatic style application. _h1_type anything -> turns into a heading, level 1 *something* -> bold something so that, in the minimal UI style, common styles are still accessible. |

While I don't agree that typing in the document should automatically change into being some kind of shortcut, we have indeed discussed of a way to access the styles by some kind of search.
We also have plans to make it possible to assign shortcuts to different styles |

I don't know, when I first found out about OOo's *bold* and _underline_ I was pleasantly surprised. (and Words has it as well)
But, yes, the key shortcuts would be a nice solution as well. |

This would suit my use case well (view documents). I imagine that it would also be nice for people who prefer to write everything and format later, e.g. http://www.reddit.com/r/vim/comments/uw ... ng_a_book/.
