Hello,
as i am no KDE-User, i still hope you can help me with my problem compiling and installing Calligra-Suite. Maybe a month ago i installed the calligra-suite 2.4.0 from the Mint-Repos on my notebook running linux-mint maya (which is a Gnome 2-Fork) - just to give it a try - while having bad remembrances about the former KSpread and KWrite from the computer-palaeozoic ages. But when i started the new calligra, i was rather pleased with it because it was faster than Libreoffice, has a nice gui and proved itself as stable. So i decided to install it on my Fuduntu-PC, which is basically a improved Fedora 14 (Kernel 3.4.4-1) running on native Gnome 2. I used the RPM's from http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-redhat/fedora/16/x86_64/RPMS.unstable/ and http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/kde-redhat/fedora/17/x86_64/RPMS.unstable/ to have it as easy as possible, but (as expected) the installation of rpm's failed because of dependencies. So i tried to compile and install calligra from source on my Fuduntu following the instructions from http://community.kde.org/Calligra/Building#Recommended_setup After installing the few KDE-libraries and non-kde-libraries needed as demanded in the recommended setup - instructions, calligra compiled in about half an hour with some warnings only, but after installing, the binaries do not start, and i have no idea what is the reason. I tried to compile the sources for calligra 2.4.3 and 2.4.91. Only the braindump-app can be started, but all the icons on its gui are missing. After all i suspect, there are some more dependencies than those mentioned in the recommended setup - instructions, but i am not sure. So i ask, if anyone has ever built a calligra > 2.4.0 from source on a Gnome 2 based PC ? What libraries are needed, that are not mentioned in the setup-instructions ? Thanks |

it's not so much dependencies as the fact that you need to set PATH and run kbuildsycoca4 (stuff which is done for you when installed via packages)
I believe this is describe in our wiki as well |
