I am actually not an Apple guy but I learned about this somewhere (perhaps the Wikipedia page) and it seemed great. I'm constantly irritated by using only part of the spreadsheet, and yet the column names apply all the way down. Apple's Numbers allows you to create tables on the spreadsheet, and each one is a bit distinct. I got the chance to play with it the other day.

I haven't tried KOffice but I did try Calligra and wasn't able to enable this through options. I can hide the grid, of course, but the column lengths still apply all the way down.

Is there a place I could register this as an idea (I found https://bugs.kde.org/describecomponents ... igraactive in the bugs section, but this isnt' really a bug)? Any other interest in this design?
