Task duration 4 times too long

Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:13 am
I enter the effort of a task as 40h, add a resource with limit 100%, goto schedule, click calculate, select gantt and the see, that the duration is 4 weeks instead of 5 days. I must have forgotten to un/set something, because the tasks duration should be 40/8 = 5 days. Any idea what's going on?

Hmmm, there are 3 ways this could happen, apart from bugs ;)

* The resource working hours (Work&Vacation Editor) is set to an avaerage of 2 hours pr day.
* The resource is only allocated 25% to the task (If working hours is 8 hours pr day).
* Resource is assigned to other task(s) in the period.

You can also check the Resource Assignements views to check exactly when the resource has been assigned to work and how much.

It was point 2. Strange. No idea how I did that. BTW it was well hidden ;-) as it didn't show up in the view. I had to right-click the task and edit its settings.

Thanks for the hints!

It is difficult to present multi-dimenssional data in a treeview...
But, help is on the way!
For 2.6 I have added allocation dockers to the task editor that (hopefully) makes it a bit easier to work with.
