I don't know how complete remove (close it) the dock, but you can 'undock' it using de icon at the right-top corner of the dock.

CTRL+H is now the shortcut for REPLACE.

Am still unsure how to remove dockers.

I would also like to find out how to do this please. I have a small screen and the dockers take up too much of it leaving insufficient space for the document. I have no use for most of the options on the default docker.

Found it - set a shortcut - any shortcut - the option is "show dockers".

Right click on that little diamond in the upper right corner. Putting that docker there covering half the screen is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. and making the way to hide it or close it so hard to find...
