I'm using Calligra Suite 2.5.4-4.1.2 with OpenSuse 12.3.
My problem is when I try to open Words it opens the frame with the title Calligra Words at the top and that is all. The icon indicating it is opening continues to spin until I get the message: Warning - Kwin The application "Calligra Words" is not responding. The problem may have begun after I created a very simple template: basically just one with wider margins than offered in the provided templates. The rest of Calligra Suite seems to be working with no problems. (I say 'seems to be' because I haven't used all of it extensively. But all the other components do open normally). I've tried removing and reinstalling Words and, when that didn't work, removing and reinstalling the entire suite, which didn't fix the problem either. Thanks in advance for any help with this. |

if indeed it's because of the template un- and reinstalling wont help
could you please 1) go to .kde/share/apps/words/templates/ in your home directory 2) moving the directory holding you offending template to a safe place 3) restart words 4) open a bug in http;//bugs.kde.org where you attach the .ott file (from inide that directory, so i can fix the bug |

It's .kde4/share/apps/words/templates/ on openSUSE. |

Thanks for the suggestion. When I try to open .kde4/share/apps/words/templates/ in my home directory as you suggest, I get the message that no such folder or file exists. Perhaps this is the problem? If so, what do I do to create it, or what else should I try?
Thanks again. |

Try and follow the path and tell me how much of it exists
I doubt there is a problem if it doesn't exist, but i'm not convinced you don't have. Rather I think you maybe just can't find it |

Athough when I type in the path it auto-completes straight through to /templates/, at any point that I try and follow that path - for example after /.kde4/ I get the folder or file does not exist message.

Hmm - try opening ~/.kde4/ directly, and then navigating using the file browser to the directory in question.

Thanks! That did it!
I opened /.kde4/ directly, and navigated to the /templates/ folder. First I moved the offending file to a safe place, but that did not fix the problem. So then I went back to the /templates/ which only had one folder in it, Blank Templates, which was empty. So I deleted that folder, and, voila!, all is well now. The blank documents templates that come with Words are still there and working so I guess the folder I removed wasn't doing anything useful. Unfortunately, I can't find the original offending file that I moved to a 'safe place' so I'm unable to open a bug report. Sorry about that. Thanks for the help. I'm glad I can be using Words again; I was just getting to really like it! |
