I ran across this in a review and also in a "bug report" and got really irritated so I posted a very long post at Kubu forums.
The reason for it being longer was because there are a lot of people who use LO and the post was to remove "stigma" for Calligra not being "complete". The "reviewer" and the bug reporter were all irate about Calligra words not "spacebarring". a) If one is in MS world and taking a class in MS office at a college and one tries to "spacebar" over an alert is sent to the teacher who throws a stapler at the student and hollers to use the tab. ( not really, but an alert is sent to the instructor). b) The reviewer evidently never actually USED Calligra, just opened it up tried the space bar and it didn't work, and started typing the review. c) if one does, indeed, put the cursor at the top left and tries to "spacebar over" it does not move. d) tab over one tab and then "backspace" to where you want to be, now, one "could" validly say that it would be "less effort" to space over three spaces than tab over and backspace.... I will give that one to the opposition. However: e) tab over four tabs and .....space bar over ....to where you want to be "spacebarring" does work within the tab delimits f) if you go past where you want to be, just back space to where you want to be. We don't have "typing" classes any more...typewriters are used mainly as a source of amusement or cursing when one stubs one's toe on it going through the doorway because it is being used as a door jam. But, back in the day...........you did not want to be pushing down on a spacebar ............MANUALLY.............. UNESS you wanted to secretly PLAY MACHINE GUNNER!!! after all it was post WWII And in the Korean War! we used the tab key... And also....using the tab key reduces the problems associated with reformatting. If one is using the "spacebar" on can have a word fly halfway across the page during a reformat. With the tab kay it may go back to the last tab, but it patiently waits for you to......... insert over.. So.......... sorry, but the whole thing about the spacebar "bug" just irritates me. And, if a moderator feels that this has been posted about in too many other threads I give permission to delete the thread. woodsmoke |
