I have recently gone from writing a book in Scrivener in OSX, to testing the waters in Google Docs (which I love), to now trying to use Calligra Word on KDE Neon. I get that none of these are perfect, I just want to see if I can do it and find that app that I want to support and I love KDE so I figured I would see if it is feasible. I can install the software just fine, I can just write in it just fine. But when I take my manuscript from Gdocs to .odt and .rtf into Calligra, it freezes and I have to terminate the file. The disheartening thing is that when I download a gdoc as a .docx and open it in Calligra it is perfect however I have issues getting the navigation to work.
My work-around for navigation is to copy and paste the entire document from the .docx to a new file. but as soon as I start changing font and font size, it crashes. The more I use it, the more I like the layout, but with a 40,000 word document and growing, I don't want to risk an application that I cannot use. Any suggestions as to a fix? I have submitted bug reports but I just thought I would pop in see if the community has a fix. Thanks in advance |
