By default, when inserting a table into a calligra words document, the cell borders are thick black lines. It is possible to click one of the icons in the text editing docker and select a different border style. However this new border style has to be laboriously painted onto every cell border individually. This can take a long time with a table that contains many cells.

Is there any way to alter the default table border style, or does a newly created table always have to have thick black borders?

And, is there any way to alter the border style of an entire already existing table in a single action, instead of having to click on each cell border individually?

I am not sure about the default style, but editing multiple borders should be possible.

You can left-click and hold on a cell (e.g. top left cell if you want the whole table) and drag the mouse pointer to expand the selection over the whole table. then you can change the border style for all selected cells simultaneously.

I agree, that's how it "should" work. It is certainly possible to click and drag to select the whole table. This works for changing the text font in multiple cells, for example, but there seems to be no way of applying changes in border styles to more than one cell border at a time.

I have the same problem as the OP, with a fresh blank document. Tables look fine on imported documents. Since I mainly use tables for formatting, no border at all would be a more useful default. I can probably work around it by making one-cell tables, changing the 4 borders, and then inserting rows and columns until I get the size I want, but being able to select multiple cells and change all their borders to the same style would save time and be more intuitive. -GEF
