This seems more like a package management error, are you able to install other packages? Maybe using another mirror server will help.

Thanks,

I can download other packages without problem.
I can change mirrors by editing sources.list, but suspect KDE has a much easier method,
I'm new to KDE and can't find that method within KDE, nor any reference to it in the manuals or online, although I'm sure it must exist.
Would appreciate any assistance.

It may be possible somewhere in the settings of Discover or the Muon Package Manager (not sure wether the latter one is installed by default on Kubuntu).
If you know how to do it by editing the sources.list file, you should be fine doing it that way.
Maybe I'll have some time at the weekend and can try to reproduce your problem, if it persists.

I downloaded the file from the URL in your error message, and it had the correct "hashes of the expected file", maybe you just experienced a download error or the package offered for download was indeed broken but fixed in the meantime.

So there is no need to change the mirror server, just try to install/download it again.

If you are looking for a GUI-way to change the mirror nonetheless, you can start Discover, go to Settings (located at the bottom of the left pane), click the Hamburger-button on the top right and select "Software Sources". This brings you to another (Ubuntu-)tool, where you can switch the mirror using the combo box labelled "Download from".

Sorry for the delay in responding - a combination of travelling and a bit of ill health.
Downloading calligra seems to work without problem now.
The gui to change repository settings seems extremely well buried! -It brings up the visual interface used by synaptic, and no doubt others.

Thanks very much for your help

The software sources configuration is in Plasma Discover's settings/menu
You should also be able to find it by typing 'Software Sources" in the K menu or Krunner
