Hi,
I see references to "experimental" or "unsupported" builds of Calligra (and KOffice) for Windows on various sites but no links. Can anyone clarify the following: Are there Calligra binaries for Windows? (Standalone apps, not in the KDE Windows Installer) Are there any guides for compiling Calligra for Windows? If not at present, are there plans for future supported Windows releases? Thanks. |

There are currently no binaries for Windows. To compile it you can have a look at the KDE windows http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Windows.
Windows version is planned, but it's not clear how long that will take. Currently there aren't many people working on Windows. |

Thanks for the info slangkamp. I can't wait for a proper Windows standalone version to rival LibreOffice. |

I know there is the one binary build that is highly warned about it's installer being experimental. My request is that instead of putting effort into a normal installer Calligra might get more traction if it was built portable.
I personally use and love Linux, but work is all Windows and 90% .docx. I use LibreOffice at work portable install and that has helped me out so many ways. Need to show something I just grab a flash drive and run my work off the portable edition. I know I have written about this before for Krita and one of the developers mentioned that it would appear to be possible to build the whole suite in a portable format. Has anyone attempted to see if this could work in Windows and if so it really could make it easier to get Calligra out to a new user base. |
