Hi everyone!
I recently made the switch to KDE on Ubuntu 12.04 after trying out Unity/Gnome/Cinnamon/LXDE/XFCE/awm/etc... and am loving it so far. I have begun replacing programs I'd normally use with their QT equivalent. I have hit a snag with Kiten in which I have no clue how I should install additional dictionaries to the program. In GWaei, I could install multiple dictionaries, of which the examples dictionary from the Tanaka Corpus plays a huge part in allowing me to learn Japanese words in context, as well as how Japanese equivalent of English words can be used in Japanese sentences. The dictionary file is called examples.gz on this page. The page also includes a myriad number of other dictionaries which could be useful as well to the Japanese learner. I hope someone can provide a guide to my issue as I have failed to find any documentation which describes how I should properly get other dictionaries running. |

If you open Kiten > Settings > Configure Kiten > Dictionaries, it would appear that one is able to add "Edict" and "Kanjidic" format dictionaries freely into Kiten. Not sure if that helps you though.

I tried this option. It doesn't appear to affect the search results though. What I did was install them all under the edict tab in the dictionary preferences. I could be doing it wrong, but I can find no documentation on how to do it correctly. |

Unfortunately I am not too familiar with Kiten, so I would suggest asking on the KDE Education mailing list (kde-edu@kde.org) regarding this.
If you get a solution, please make sure to post it back here for future searchers.

It may be worth filing a bug report as well in this case, which may be more likely to get noticed by the Kiten maintainer.
