[kiten] forgot german

Tue Mar 05, 2013 7:32 am
I am using Kiten 1.3 with Kubuntu 12.10 on a Samsung N220 netbook.
I can swear that some days before it displayed my german results for my search words. ;)

Currently it doesn't. I installed the jpn-deu dictionary files with apt-get to my system.

Now there is
/usr/share/dictd/freedict-jpn-deu.dict.dz
/usr/share/dictd/freedict-jpn-deu.index

in it.

I added booth files as dictionary to my Kiten settings. But nothing happend.
I only see english answers to my search words.

what could be wrong or what information is always usefull?

Are your German <-> Japanese dictionaries in either Edict or Kanjidic format? If so, did you add them to the right dictionary section?

Does this help?

I add both files
Code: Select all
/usr/share/dictd/freedict-jpn-deu.dict.dz
/usr/share/dictd/freedict-jpn-deu.index

to edict and kanjidic section in the Kiten settings.

The dictionaries you installed appear to belong to software called "dictd" which is a dictionary server.
From what I have been able to find, it's format is incompatible with both Edict and Kanjidic.

I'm not sure why it appeared to work initially though.
