New here so hope this is in the right place.
having used quite a few of the astronomy programs I stumbled on Kstars and love the look and feel of the application, however I've experienced issues with the connectivity to a commercial mount (SW HEQ5), which has frustrated me for some weeks now. First attempt was to set up a netbook running linux mint. The INDI drivers installed and the telescope setup and control option appeared under the menu options, however the direct connection via an EQDIR cable failed, and looking at the INDI documentation I see it only supports a GPUSB cable. So I downloaded the windows version, but was disappointed to find no support for ASCOM (the defcto windows platform for telescope / camera control) - so I looked at the INDI website and noticed the two applications, JINDI and WINDI applications - so these were downloaded and installed - Now for the issue. I have the server running, and get green icons against the driver etc in JINDI so everything is running there - so far so good. BUT there is still no option in Kstars to set up the telescope control, and get this to work. Any pointers ? It would be a lot simpler if Kstars natively supported the ASCOM standards out of the box.
