Hi!
I'm trying to install "Scilab". In Scilab's page says that you only need to 'untar' the tarball containing the program and in a terminal type (after moving to the directory containing Scilab):
when i do that, i get:
Could you, please, indicate me what to do? Thanks |

not a KDE issue, an openSUSE packaging issue or maybe a Scilab issue - see following links:
- https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get ... cilab.html - https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get ... 2-3-a.html also if you Google you'll probably find issues with other distros have you tried compiling it? suggest you ask on the Scilab forum |

Dear Ierkurt,
I have a standard installation of openSUSE 13.1, using KDE 12.11.4. I did as explained but had problems with some libraries which I had to copy to the /usr/lib64 or /usr/lib64/scilab directories. The libraries were: libjava.so libverify.so libjvm.so libzip.so Then I am receiving the following error message: Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object Do you have any hint to solve this! Thank for your help. |

It's OK now! Scilab is now working fine! As the error messages referred to problems with java I installed the Oracle Java and made it my default option, instead of the openjdk. Thanks for the solution and help! Regards |
