Install on Imac issue

Fri Nov 11, 2022 9:43 am
Hi,
I am new to this and have just purchased a skywatcher EQM-35 Pro mount, being on an iMac I was looking at using KSTARS for control.
Having downloaded the software (kstars 3.6.1.dmg) I and getting a warning that I cannot install as it cannot be verified by apple.

Warning:
“kstars” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information."

Can anyone please help?

My system is:
MacBook Air
Chip Apple M1
MacOS Ventura 13.0.1

Thanks

Hi, I just saw this so hopefully you've solved it by now.

In any case, this warning just means that Apple has not been paid their obligatory fee for having your software "approved" by them. Common problem among small developers.

If it occurs again, open up the System Preferences/Security right after it happens and you should see an "Open Anyway" option near the bottom of that window. Go ahead, ignore the warnings and after doing it once, it won't occur again.

Good luck!
