I love my backgammon and no longer see KBackgammon available. Is there any place I can download a deb file of it? I'm surprised this has been excluded from KDE considering it is the only backgammon game on linux that connects online to FIBS (first internet backgammon server).
Is there any way to reinstate this? Find a working deb? Anything would be nice at this point. I am willing to rework the graphics on it if I can open up the source code. Many thanks. Dave |

KBackGammon was removed prior to 4.0 release as stated in this commit: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revision&revision=733296
It's current source code can be found at http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/ ... ackgammon/ Unfortunately it appears to be unmaintained at this point in time.

Would love to work on this game and get it back into service. How would I go about this? It appears unmaintained for over 2 years now. Any suggestions? Thanks!

First, are you able to use C++ and Qt?
If you can, and do not have an KDE SVN account, then you will need to apply for one. Once that is done, you can checkout kbackgammon from SVN and work on it to bring it into a functional state once more. When you believe it is ready for inclusion again, you can move it into KDE Review, and after a 2 week review period by other developers. After the review, assuming the kdegames module coordinator is willing to accept KBackGammon into kdegames, you will be able to move into kdegames, and will be shipped with the next release of KDE.
