No KBlueLock in 10.10 Maverick

Mon Nov 01, 2010 9:07 am
Hi,

After upgradeing to Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick I can't find the function to lock screen whem my computer can't see my cellphone via bluetooth, I think the name of the function is KBlueLock. In Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid that lock function was in the kdebluetooth icon down in the status-bar, but not after upgrade to 10.10 Maverick..

Thank you in advance.

It looks like Kubuntu uses bluedevil instead of kdebluetooth. Bluedevil still lacks several features from kdebluetooth, and that is one of them. It has not had a stable release yet, either, which means the developers do not consider it ready for widespread use.

If you need that functionality I would suggest seeing if you can find a kdebluetooth package. I haven't had any problems running the two in parallel, although there may be some unexpected consequences so do so at your own risk.

Thank you for your response!
I'll try to install kbluetooth and see what happens.
