Hi,
Some days ago, I have upgraded to KDE 4.6.1 from Gentoo portage. And now my KBlocks game is very slow to response. When I press a key (left, right, rotate, down) it takes 2-3 seconds to move the piece. I tried all of suggestions in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=93359 (deleted /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER, run kbuildsycoca4, or login with new user, ...) but nothing changes. It seems that I have this problem with KBlocks only. The other apps or games (Supertux) response or play normally. How can I debug this case? |

if you run ksysguard when playing what does you cpu and memory usage look like?

OK. It shows me about 33% CPU (seems very high?) and 20M memory. |

I installed it and ran it and cpu for Kblocks is 33% AND cpu for X is 37%
I found a couple of bug reports https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268528 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268583 For me the solution that worked (from bug reports) was to run from Konsole with the command "kblocks --graphicssystem raster", if that doesn't fix it change theme to Oxygen (instead of Egyptian) fyi - in ksysguard theres a (wide) button to the right of the search field you should set it to "all processes" |

It seems you can use Egyptian theme of KBlocks when using Oxygen windeco, also worked fine for me with a couple of Aurorae windeco styles, but I need to switch to Oxygen theme in KBlocks if using Keramik or Plastic windeco. -GEF

On a similar note, kapman runs slowly with Egyptian (er, Mummies) theme as well, regardless of Oxygen windeco. --graphicssystem raster makes no difference; any idea what would? -GEF

@ gefagan: I don't think google01103 is talking about oxygen windeco, but about oxygen style on kblocks game.
Also, I think --graphicssystem raster is useful only if you have desktop effects turned on, which is not my case. Kapman crawls with every available style on kde 4.6.5 and it is completely unusable here. Palapeli needs an eternity to start and eats CPU like crazy. Other games like kbreakout works better.
