After the upgrade to kde 4.7 kstars crashes at startup,
with very little information about the crash:

You need to install/build KDE with debugging symbols in kdelibs to get a useful backtrace. Can you please do so then post a new, more complete, backtrace?

I have this problem too.

If I delete config file directory ./kde/share/apps/kstars then kstars will start. The next time I start kstars it the crashes again so this is only a very temporary fix.

in my case, kstars can be started again without a problem ...

EDIT: BTW, I did not delete the directory, I just deleted the *.dat
files in it ...

In that case it might be that some of the settings that I changed produce entries in the config files that the program cannot read resulting in a crash.
