Account Creation Behavior

Skrooge 1.3.0

(Sorry if this is long-winded)

I've noticed that when I try to create a new account, that the field "Account" needs to be unique or else Skrooge might find an existing account with the same name and modify the rest of the fields when I click <Add>. I expected it to create a new account. I figured that Skrooge identifies the account is identified by the "Account" field (called the "Name" field in the account list). In fact, it seems the account list is only keyed on Account Name -- I accidentally changed an account at different bank this way.

Scenario: I could imagine having an account called "checking" at "Iowa Bank" and another named "checking" at "Illinois Bank." Working around this isn't difficult, since I can call the "Iowa Bank" checking account "Iowa Bank Checking" and likewise with the "Illinois Bank". For that matter, if I had more than one checking account at Iowa Bank, I might name them "Iowa Bank Checking Account 1234" and "Iowa Bank Checking Account 1235". The fields get a little redundant, e.g.: Bank: "Iowa Bank", Account: "Iowa Bank Checking Account 1234", Number: "1234", but it's workable.

So I have two suggestions, for what they're worth:

1.) Perhaps keying the account on Bank, Account and possibly also the optional fields of "bank number" "agency number" and "number" is or isn't practical at this stage of development, that's fine. But if not, I would suggest a warning or error if someone is about to overwrite an existing account with new information when they click <Add>, since that behavior isn't expected based on how the <Add> and <Modify> buttons work elsewhere in Skrooge.

2.) Adding something to the documentation to inform users that the Account Name must be globally unique.

Anyway, thanks for Skrooge. It's a very useful piece of software.
