My QIF was exported from Mondeydance and refuses to import to Skrooge. I'm using Precise and have read many of the posts here. I get a date format error - all dates in the QIF are US format (mm/dd//yyy). Ubuntu Software Center installed version 1.3 and the date error occured. Then I read I needed to set the KDE date format with systemssettings. So I installed that software and set the date to US format - no luck. Then I read that 1.2 was stable for Precise, so I purged 1.3 and installed 1.2 - no luck. Now, I'm thinking the QIF generated by Moneydance is not correct. Here's a sample entry:
D07/13/2012 T28.00 C N PFROM KAREN M LOther Inc ^ Any suggestions? |

This kind of QIF file is correctly imported in Skrooge.
Are you sure that the extension of your file is .qif? If you still have the issue, what is the error message given by Skrooge? |

The error is: Date Format not supported. I changed the date settings in systemsettings to MM/DD/YY and then edited the QIF file to have a 2 char year - it was exported from Moneydance as a 4 char year. Still, I have the error about date format.

OK, I got it. Moneydance exported like a preamble with a listing of all categories and some bank account info. This section included entries that began the line with "D". I deleted all these lines and the import ran without errors.

I have tried several times previous to import a QIF file exported from Moneydance since I want to move away from it. I saw that this was solved and was quite excited. However, using 1.3.3 it still seems to have the same error. I followed the tip about removing the lines prefixed with a 'D' in the account headers at the beginning of the file, after which the import succeeded.
In certain sections it appears as though the D line prefix indicates a D[escription] instead of always being a D[ate]. The link below gives some description of each section, note the different semantics of D lines in the various sections. For my Moneydance export, I removed D[escription] lines in the following section types and it worked, although I didn't test they each is required to be removed (in order they appear in the file): Class, Cat, Account. http://www.respmech.com/mym2qifw/qif_new.htm |

Could you send me by email another sample of qif file generating an error because the previous one is now importable?

Sent two sample files to your email with D[escription] fields as well as a cleaned-up version with them removed that does currently successfully import.

In fact, the error is only due to the 'D' parameter of this section:
!Type:Class NSampleClass DSample Class Description ^ I did a correction in Skrooge to support qif file having Type:Class. |
