I see that in dashboard plugin of skrooge it gives the accounts balance considering all the operations for that account i.e. past, current and future opertaions.
I could not find any way to determine the balance on any other date.
It would be nice if the the plugin takes any date and displays the account balance as on that date.

Hi,

In "operation" page, if you click with the right button of the mouse on the header of the table, you can add the "Balance" column.

Thank you for using Skrooge.

Regards,
Stephane

Oh I did not see it before... 8) It is indeed very useful...

Just could not resist asking one more question... what is the difference between the columns 'Balance' and 'Balance Entered' on the operation page? Both show the same value....

Thanks for the wounderful application...

Hi,

The column "Balance" is the balance of the account in the primary unit.
The column "Balance entered" is the balance of the account in the unit of the account.

Example: if your primary unit is Euro and if you have an account in Dollar, then the "Balance" will be in Euro and the "Balance entered" will be in Dollar.

Thank you for using Skrooge.

Hi,

Just adding to your answer in post two. I see that in dashboard plugin itself on accounts (Light) I can right click and select 'Only Past Operations'. This would give me a view of balances of all the accounts as of today very quickly. This is very handy feature. ;)
I wish if this feature could be enhanced further so that it allows user to select any date in past to quickly get the overview of the state of all the accounts on that date.
I am not sure if this would make sense to everyone :-\ , but I would love it :* .

Anyways I love using this application.

Thanks to all for the good work

I added the idea in our TODO list.

I too would love to be able to select a past date, preferably in operations, and know what the balance of the account was at that time. There may be some way to do it, but if so, I haven't found it.Is there currently some way?
Having used Quicken for probably 20 years or so, that is a feature I miss in Skrooge.

Having used Quicken for probably 20 years or so, that is a feature I miss in Skrooge. As well as a better way to reconcile.

In operation page, you can add the "Balance" column (use the contextual menu on header of the table).
You will see the balance of the account after each operation. If you select an operation at the expected date, you will have the balance at this date.

In "Accounts" page, with the "Show" menu, you can display a graph showing the balance of the selected accounts over the time.

I hope this will help you.
