In the dark distant past I have tried to install Skrooge via MacPorts many times and always failed on previous versions.
However, I have recently revisited Skrooge and tried the latest 1.5.1 version with "almost" 100% success but cannot solve what seems to be one final 5% problem. When I first load Skrooge everything is fine, I have full functions and ALL Menu functions and displays including the Apple Menu but as soon as I select any menu function from "within" Skrooge the Main Menu in the Apple top left Menu Bar disappears leaving me with only the word "Skrooge" at the left most position. (In the corner with the Apple Logo). If I close Skrooge and reload at this point the FULL menu reappears but disappears as soon as any menu selection is made, and so on, round and round......... I've checked ALL dependancies required by Skrooge and all check out without faults. The best way to demonstrate this "problem" is with two screenshots, one before when first loaded and one after a Menu selection has been made, but I can't find a way of attaching them to this post. Has anyone else come across this problem ? Ron.

Hi,
Could you send me the screen captures by email (you can find it in the about of Skrooge)? Thank you for using Skrooge. |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry, but you'll need to let me have your email address as "about Skrooge" tries to launch Kmail as the default email client. I'm running OSx and Apple Mail only. Ron.

Screenshots can also be attached by posting them to an external site such as Imageshack, and then posting the links here.

Thank you for the screen capture,
In the meantime, you can may be use the menu as a icon in the toolbar by using CTRL+M. Regards. |

Sorry but I have tried CTRL+M and nothing happens for me.
Once I loose the Menu in the Apple Bar the only way to recover any form of a menu is to close Skrooge and then re-open it. Skrooge has been like this on Apple Mac and MacPorts for as long as I care to mention (see my old posts) but as I said originally I re-visited Skrooge recently in the hope that the latest version 1.5.1 would have finally fixed this, sadly it hasn't. The problem previously seemed to be that the developers did not have access to an Apple machine. Shame because Skrooge is a really nice package. On the other hand KmyMoney runs with no Menu problems although does show a few minor flaws from time to time......(yesterday it suddenly decided that I could not edit any transaction until I closed and re-opened it). If there is any way I can help you finally "nail" this menu issue (I have a lot of data) please let me know. Regards.

Do you still have the same issue with the new version 1.6.0?

I believe Skrooge v1.5.1 is still the only version available to date on MacPorts

Have now updated to v1.6.0 but the original problem still exists, I will email you some screenshots to demonstrate this.
