OOps done something stupid

Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:40 pm
While testing verison distros by installing I ran Skrooge in Pclinuxos while it was installed on HD, I used my live data. The version there was 1.7.4 beta , I have now installed Sabayon which has 1.7.1 stable. I am still in new born land crawling around, I have never used a Gentoo or Arch system before. is there anything I can down short of installing the testing software to get up and running?

Can you please provide the error given by Skrooge (version 1.7.1) when you try to open your data?

The error message is:

[ERR-5]: Failed to open '/home/cubbybear/Documents/Money/Joint Money (New).skg'.
[ERR-4]: Impossible to load a document generated by a more recent version

This error is received with the current stable version for ubuntu version 1.7.1 (Mint 15 system), I get the same error with the Ubuntu beta test version1.7.4beta all so.

Okay, i'll leave this up to the developers to respond to. My suspicion would be that you need to upgrade to the matching or newer version though.

The problem with upgrading the software is that I was using PcLinuxOS testing it for suitability. They are using the beta version as stable and seem to have called it version 1.8. I no longer have that distro installed as it had to many problems. So I went back to Linux Mint 15 which has no issues. I tried to open the file with both current 1.7.1 and the 1.7.4beta in ubuntu ppa's and got the same error message. So I do not know what to do. I hope a developer can fix as this is my only copy of the data. I stupidly backup in Pclinuxos after running the program on my data so this is the only copy I have. This is vary bad news for me.

Re: OOps done something stupid  Topic is solved

Hi,

I added the last version of Skrooge in my ppa (beta) for you:
https://launchpad.net/~s-mankowski/+archive/beta/

With this version (if you can use my ppa), you should be able to load your document.
If you can not, you still have 2 solutions:
S1- Build Skrooge yourself: http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Skrooge
S2-Send me your document by email, I will manually migrate it for your version

Thank you for using Skrooge.
