Hi,
as a brand new Skrooge user I have been able to set up some accounts in different currencies, some stock, but now I'm struggling to define the initial balance of my own home and car. I have configured them as Units, but I can't find where to set up their initial value.

Thanks

You just have to:
1-Create a "Car" and "House" unit
2-Set the current value of each unit
3-Create a new account for asset
4-Add an operation in this account with 1 "Car"
5-Add an operation in this account with 1 "House"

Thank you for the fast reply.
I couldn't find a place to set the value as Unit. Here the screenshot (sorry, Skrooge in Spanish ; ver. 1.8.0 on OpenSuse 12.3)

But I was able to set up an account for the house and add it with an operation.
Later I realized I didn't had to use an unit for it. I just added 2 accounts for buildings and vehicles (using "fixed assets" as "Bank") and with an initial Balance of cero. In a second step I made operations adding the value of each ones.
Thank you very much.

To set the value of a unit.
1-Select a unit ==> The button "Valores" will be enabled.
2-Clic on the button "Valores"
3-Set the date an the value
4-Click on "Add"

Thanks for both the asking and answering of this question. I hadn't been able to figure out how to account for my personal (cars) and real (house) property in Skrooge. Creating a "unit" for each of these just wouldn't have occurred to me, since I was thinking of units just as currencies or securities, not other types of asset like car, boat or building.

I didn't get that before, but now it makes more sense. I think it would be great to include this scenario in the Skrooge Handbook under the "units" section to illustrate the concept of "object assets".
