Hi,
I am new to Skrooge and I would like to ask some questions about categories as I would like to use them correctly (and therefore not impairing myself on future reporting and budgeting possibilities by misusing them). There some categories (I am using the standard ones that come with Skrooge) that to me seems duplicated: - Auto, Car and Motor (the last one has less sub-categories of the first two); - Employment and Wage & Salary; - Bills and Utilities; - Invest. income and Investment Income (they have different sub categories); - Holiday and Travel (the later has more sub-categories than the first); On the above examples is there a difference if I put the transactions on one category over the other (as long as I keep using the same category for all the similar transaction)? Does something negative happens if I move categories around? For example, but not limited to: - Grouping Alimony, Child Care and Child support under a master category; - Moving Bonus and Job Expense under Employment (btw, as Job Expense have sub-categories, is it possible to have 3 branches categories like Employment -> Job Expense -> Reimbursed); - Moving Personal Care under Leisure; - and so on ... I think you get the point and I don't want to bore you. ![]() BTW, I am using Skroge 1.8.0 that, at the moment of writtingm is the latest available marked as "stable" on Gentoo's Portage tree. Thanks in advance. |

The default categories are created just to help.
You can do what you want with categories (remove, regroup, rename, delete, ...). The most important is to have categories relevant for you. |
