I'm new to Skrooge and KDE. What I really like is the category view that shows categories to any and all levels along with cumulative sums simultaneously for all levels. But now that a new year is upon us, I can't figure out how to see this view for just 2014. Sure I can make a report for that date range, but not without sacrificing the ability to see sums for all or any level of category detail for all categories simultaneously.
Is there a way to get the category view I want? Thanks. |

If you compare the report generated as smankowski illustrated to the built-in category view, you'll see a critical difference. Subtotals for each category for EVERY LEVEL are displayed in the category view by simple click on the the various categories. In the report view, you can drill down as you like by clicking on the (+), but totals are shown only for the one displayed level, and the entire root level category.
As a simple example consider 1 category: Pers > Food > Groceries > Produce The category view allows you to see a cumulative total of Pers, of Pers > Food, of Pers > Food > Groceries, and of Pers > Food > Groceries >Produce. And these are all viewable simultaneously! I can see that I spent $500 on Pers, $150 on Food, $90 on groceries, and $50 on produce, all at once. It is a wonderful view, but how to filter by date? In contrast the report allows you to see totals for Pers, and one choice of any of the other combinations at one time. So I know I spent $500 on Pers and $50 on Produce, but I can't see the Groceries total or the Food total. At least not at the same time. I hope this explains my question more thoroughly. |

Well understood.
It's not possible to filter the "Category" view by date. |
