Property/tag for split operations

Mon Aug 04, 2014 11:30 am
Hello all!

First of all, thanks for Skrooge! It is really great.

During my daily use of Skrooge I have found out that I missed one important for me feature. I would like to assign to each operation a "Family member" property/tag. Of course I know about properties in Skrooge, but the thing I can not do is adding "Family member" to different parts of split operations. For example I buy a book for me and a dvd for wife with single payment. I would like to add split operation with two parts, each with assigned "Family member" property). Is it somehow possible? Currently I just "cheat" and add two operations instead of one split operation.

I would be appreciate for any help and thoughts.

Best regards.

You can try this:
1- Double click on an operation having splits.
2- Select one sub operation.
3- Add property in the sub operation.

Many thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, as far as I see it is not possible to set a property for specific sub-operation. If I set a property for one sub-operation, then all sub-operations in this operation get this property. (I use Skrooge 1.7.1. Does it metter?)

I was also thinking about using Trackers to achieve that. I can create trackers
Code: Select all
Me
Wife
...

and add it to sub-operations. However, this approach has one big downside, namely I can set only one tracker to sub-operation. For example when I would like to add a split operation with two sub-operations both with "Holiday trip" tracker, then I can not set proper "Family member" tracker. If one of these sub-operations should has "Wife" tracker, then I can use "nested trackers" (as described here: multiple/sub Trackers?) and add "Holiday trip > Wife" tracker:
Code: Select all
sub-operation-1 tracker: Holiday trip
sub-operation-2 tracker: Holiday trip > Wife.

This is almost all I need, but then I can not create a report with "Family members" trackers as lines/rows, where "Holiday trip > Wife" tracker is treated as sub-tracker of "Wife" tracker. I would like to have report
Code: Select all
Me: ...
Wife ("Wife" + "Holiday trip > Wife"): ...

not
Code: Select all
Me: ...
Wife: ...
Holiday trip > Wife: ...

Of course changing "Holiday trip > Wife" to "Wife > Holiday trip" is not a solution, because then I can not create report with holidays as rows.

Does anyone have solution to this problem?
