new credit card feature

Tue Aug 12, 2014 8:26 am
Hello,
I've been using Skrooge for a bunch of years and mostly appreciate all new features (eg. account tab filtering by account time prediod etc.), but this new one on credit card is just useless and creates a "duplicities" for me.
To be understood, I'm definitely getting why the feature for reconciliation to certain account is there, but this does not always apply.
To the point. When I want to reconcile a credit card account, there is now an other account bind with the credit card. I've got two credit cards without any account bind to them. In reality credit card is a type of account on its own. Secondly, if I choose an account to bind with (like create empty one just for sake of it) all the transactions are now on both of these accounts. Which for some reasons I understand but for many more don't. I don't know if there is a real duplicity or is it just smart database select, I hope for the select.
This all I can overwork by switching credit card account to current account reconcile and change back, this way the credit card account is in the right place for dashborad widget accounts and reconciled on its own.

Solution to this problem, because I understand the need for this feature is to introduce new types of account. Instead of current credt card one make two credit card account types "credit card bind" & "credit card". Or whatever similar to that. So that in dashboard widget accounts or in some other overview both were in a bundle of credit card accounts but the reconciliation process would be different for them.

I hope I've explained myself clear enough.
Thanks
PS: I'm using 1.9.3Beta

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback on this new feature.

I understood your issue. My proposal is the set the binding account optional. So, you will be able to have a "credit card" account without binding account.

Is this proposal acceptable for you?

Regards,
Stephane

This has been implemented. You can find it in the git version if you are able to build Skrooge by yourself.

I am also finding this new feature useless and I am glad that it became optional.
However I would also like to know when it will become available in Skrooge beta PPA?

I added a new version including this feature.
You can have it by using my ppa.
