Hello,
I suggest to use restrict keyword on fast search filter (in right upper list widget corner) like in bugs-kde, ie with ':' char separator. The idea is to enter <column>:<search> to restrict search in one column. For example: in operation list, payee:macdo will filter and display only operations with a payee that contains 'macdo' and not a row with a comment that contains this word. Moreover, we can reduce to one char 'p:macdo' to be faster... The drawback is that real search with ':' will not be as before ! A solution is to allow quote inside search 'p:macdo' will search p:macdo in all column. Quotes allow also to keep space search 'one two' will search the two words with the space and not one or two. Do you agreed ? I start some dev to test my ideas. I think I can generate a patch in few days. a+ Vicnet PS: even if this idea is not kept, it should be useful to add a tooltip with +/- special char explanation (I discover these within the code). |

Hi Vicnet,
This is a great idea ! I added it in my TODO list. Do not hesitate to use the kde bug tracker to propose this kind of enhancement, this is better than in the forum. Regards, Stephane |

Thanks for your enthusiasm
Yep. I just want to discuss here the feasibility and then if everybody agreed, open an issue to discuss implementation ideas. a+ Vicnet |

I suggest also to allow just first chars (at least one char) or column.
For example, to search only in Comment, 'co:text' will be enough. But on which column to search with 'c:text': 1) only in the first column 2) on all columns that start with 'c' 3) other suggestion ? I think (2) is more comprehensible. a+ Vicnet |
