Wrong currency when importing QIF files

Hi,

I've recently started to observe problems when importing QIF files. My primary and secondary currencies are not euro, but all transactions in temporary import account are denominated in euro. The temporary import account is correctly created in my primary currency.
Did anyone else observe this bug? I suspect it may be a regression introduced in 1.12.0 because the QIF import used to work for me previously and I've upgraded around that time the bug started to showing up.
Please let me know how I can help.

On a side note. For a time being I simply change the currency of all imported transactions which reveals another bug: amount of the first operation (top one) get set to 0.

Thanks,

Hi,

If you open a QIF file with a text editor, you will see that the currency of transactions is not available.
QIF format does allow to specify the currency of a transaction.

So, Skrooge creates operations with the unit of the account.
So, if you set a different unit to you account, all operations imported in this account will be imported with this unit.

I hope this will help you.

Hi Stéphane,

Thanks for you help.

So, Skrooge creates operations with the unit of the account.

This is not what happens. What I do is
1. Download a qif file
2. Import it in Skrooge
3. Temporary dummy account gets created
4. It's correctly denominated in pounds (my primary currency)
5. But when I check, all operations are in euro.

It didn't use to be like this, normally all operations were in the same currency as this dummy account.

Thanks,

Hi,

I did the test: All operations are imported with the unit of the account (not the primary unit).
Of course, in the table, the "Amount" column shows the operations in the primary unit.
If you want to see them in the amount of the account, you can add the column "Amount entered".

Hi,

Do you still have the issue or this topic is closed?

Hi Stephane,

No, the issue still persists.

I've prepared a stripped version of my *.skg file that reproduces the issue. I've tried to remove all personal/sensitive information from it, but just in case I'd prefer not to put this file onto the internet where everyone can access it. Would it be OK for me to send the file to your email for further investigation?

Thanks,
kowalski

Hi,

Thank you for the sample file.
I did the following correction:
https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=skrooge.git ... 72f6d6827d

This correction will be available in next 2.3.0 version.

A workaround exist, you just have to set a value to 1 on your primary unit.

Regards.
