Hi everybody,
First, I wanna say that i'm using skrooge since many years now, I actually started using only this software for my personnal accounts the 01/01/2013. I really love it, but updates after updates little things start to annoy me more & more. ====================================== Here is the list of the problems I have: - Since 1.12, I don't know why but some operations are red and can't be modified. This is very annoyin as I created a schedule operation for my salary. And, as you know it slightly changes every month. The problem is that I can't modify it. Any idea why this operation is red. Only few are red, and I don't figure out why they are. Some very identic operations (schedule also) are not red. As you can see on the picture below, the operation is selected, the amount is red, if I change the amount I can't click on modify then as it is grey. - Also, since 1.12, I really hate these messages asking me if i wan't to update the tab with the new state. It doesn't keep the settings, if I close Skrooge and re-open it again, it will ask me again if I wanna update with the new state (even if I checked the "don't ask me again" button). Also, first I thought it updated only reports with the new operations added, but I noticed it can also save the state of the tab which make the save icon on the tab useless. This is confusing. Which message is to save the tab layout and which one updates the window with recently operations added? I can't figure out, messages are so similar. I prefer as it was before, click refresh to update reports and click the icon on the tab to save the layout. Below is a picture of the message I have all the time when I click on any page. - Since 1.11 (or 1.12) maybe after Kde Framework 5 update. I often have problems with special caracteres that don't show up properly. Specially with accents (é è ê etc...) So, I have a category "supermarket" "supermarché" in french. If I right click on it and select "show report", this happens and nothing appears on the report. This is not a big issue as I can easily go around it, but thought it would be a good idea to report it here. ps : I still use KDE4, is the problem would be fixed if I used plasma 5 and Kde Framework 5? - And, the last problem I have (the main one, it's hard to explain and sure will be hard to fix). I created years ago (beginning of 2013) a schedule transfert (every month) from my personnal account to our joint account (1000€). It always worked fine, but in reports all these operations still show on the beginning of 2013. As a result, for exemple, I created a report that shows the amount we have on every account. I can see that on february 2013, the joint account received 15000€. This is wrong the joint account received 1000€ every month since february 2013 (so 15 times, so 15000€). Don't know why but the dates on reports are the creation date of the transfert. This is confusing as on the graph, the joint account receives all the money on february 2013 (15000€) and the line just goes down as if there are no incomes anymore just outcomes. Weirdly, it works fine on my personnal account, on the graph it loses 1000€ every month, only the joint account receives everything on february 2013. Of course, I checked the operation page and it's fine operations dates are every month for my personnal account and the joint account. The problem only appears on report pages. Sorry, it's very hard to explain, I hope you understand what I mean, if you don't, I'll try to explain it better. ====================================== I think that's it for now as these are the main issues I have. By the way, sorry for my bad English, you probably noticed it was not my first language (French). You can reply to me French if you prefer, but English should be OK. Let me know if you need more details & thanks a lot in advance. |

This is due to the space in displayed value. Remove it and you will be able to update the operation. This bug has been correction on Skrooge 2.1.0
I didn't change anything around this. This should work. I tested it on Skrooge 2.1.0 and it works well. You can check on Settings, in the section "General", if the options are set to "Never" instead "Ask".
You must know that: - Skrooge 1.x is based on KDE4. This version is not maintained anymore. - Skrooge 2.x is based on KF5. This is the current version. This bug has been correction on Skrooge 2.1.0
You must know that: - operations have a date. This is the date displayed in operation page. - sub operations have a date too. This is the one used for reports. Due to an old bug, you can have simple operations not having the dates aligned. This is not normal. In the dashboard, you can add a widget named "Advice". One advice will help you to align dates.
I am french too. If you want you can contact me by mail. My email is in the about of Skrooge. PS: I will publish the version 2.1.0 of Skrooge soon. |

Hi smankowski,
This is what I like about you, you always reply so quickly, that's amazing. I used to talked to you on Ubuntu-fr forum's (miraks ). Also, by the way, sorry about that, but I was wrong, I don't use 1.12, but 2.0.0 as I am using Archlinux. Also, I don't see any version 2.1 on skrooge website or Archlinux repositories. Nevermind, I'll wait for it. So, about answers you provided : 1 - You're right, I can now edit the operation if I take the space out. (I'll do that until 2.1 is out) 2 - I've changed options to "never". Strange as I didn't changed that setting before. Anyway, Seems to be working like a charm. 3 - I'll wait for skrooge 2.1, as said earlier, I use a workaround for now, so it's not a big issue. 4 - So, I find the options in Tools -> Align sub-operation's date : It seems to be working perfectly, but didn't save the file yet, as I'm not sure to understand everything. So, reports show as it should now, but I didn't save the file as I don't know exactly which operations have been modified (is there an easy way to see what operations have their dates aligned?). - Also, I actually don't think I understand the difference between an operation and a sub-operation (I just see operations ). Is it possible to give me a quick explanation and a way to see sub operations from an operation? - Will I have to do that every month (I'll see actually, but you might know the answer). Next month, will my 1000€ transfert will still show february 2013 in reports so I have to align dates again (something I have to do every month?) or is it "fixed" now, and this report problem won't show up again? Anyway, thanks a lot again, I was kind of upset recently with skrooge (after loving it for so many years), but you prove I was wrong, this piece of software rocks. I sincerely apologize for thinking bad things recently about skrooge (and you indirectly). Also, I know you don't want donations, and prefer us to give to KDE, but I already gave my support to KDE many times and never to you. I think this is not fair as Skrooge is the most used software on my computer that I think is "work" related (I use it for personnal use, but this is a critical piece of software I use every day, and if it goes down, I'll be lost). Anyway, I'll be very happy to make a donation to you, to support your work and your amazing support. I'll contact you soon (by email) to see if there is a way to give you something (chèque, liquide etc....). Thanks a lot again |

An operation is a set a sub operations. Sub operations is the lines you see when you create a split operation. An operation can be split for many reasons: 1- Because you want to split by categories (20€ split in 15€ for food and 5€ for gift) 2- Because you want to split by date (30 € split in 10€ in June + 10€ in July + 10€ in August) 3- Because you want specific properties on some sub operations A simple operation is in fact a split operation having only one split. In this case, you can not see the date and comment of the sub operation except if you double click on the operation to see the sub operation. Normally, simple operation should have date and comment aligned with the suboperations. Some advice are done to check this rule and clean wrong data.
Normally not.
No problem. The migration to Kf5/Qt5 was not easy and generate some regressions. Sometimes, this is not easy to find those regressions. The change log of Skrooge 2.1.0 is very long. This version should be good.
Thank you for your encouragement, they go straight to my heart. |
