Skrooge Icons when used with XMing

Sat Sep 17, 2016 6:28 am
Hi all,

since few weeks ago I am using Skrooge from my Linux box, but using a Windows 10 Laptop with XMing.

it is a Lan environment so speed is great, there is no need of SSH redirection, nor firewall issues, etc. So, everything is working fine.

But I have a problem. I cannot see a single icon on Skrooge. I was using version 2.4.0 and where the icons should be, there was an empty box.

Now I am using 2.4.92 (2.5 beta) and on most cases, the icons simply aren't there. And at places where the icon is needed (for example to search), there is an empty box.

I thought it was a problem with Xming, but the truth is that Skrooge is the only software with this issue. I am using many other ones and I can see icons for all of them.

Any idea and any possible solution?

Thanks

Hi,

Skrooge don't use a specific way/widget to display.
It uses the standard components provided by KDE/Qt.

Could you confirm that you don't have the same issue one of the following applications?
- Kate
- Digikam
- Gwenview
- Krita

Ups, right. It seems that there is a problem with all KDE apps. I can see icons on apps not specifically for KDE.

So I guess the fix should be for KDE and not for Skrooge itself. Anyway, any idea?

Thanks

Are you sure that icons packages are installed?
Search packages containing "breeze" or "oxygen" and install them.

Since you asked me so specifically for those packages, I have reinstalled them and now everything is working well.

So I guess the packages were there but probably with something wrong.

Thanks so much for pointing me to the right direction.
