Hi,
I have recently shifted across to using Skrooge and am fairly pleased with it. The transfer from my previous software was pretty swift after some minor editing on my part. However, I am faced with an issue for stocks and shares I had before the introduction of the euro (so, I have created the unit in French Francs) and all the operations before 2002 are in Francs. Will I need to create semi-duplicated units for the same shares after the move to the euro ? Thanks for any advice. Stephane |

Hi Stephane,
I am the main developer of Skrooge, I am French too but I didn't get shares before the euro. Nevertheless, I will try to give you my recommendation. I think you should create only one unit for the shares. This unit will be in euro. The shares you bought before the euro are now in euro. The quantity is the same but the value is now in euros instead of francs. For me, there is no real benefit to create 2 shares unit, one in francs, one in euros. Regards. |

Hi Stephane,
Thanks for your reply. This sounds a good approach; the only question I have about this though is whether this may not be a problem given that, before the move to the euro, the shares would have been bought from an account in francs. Would there not be an issue trying to buy units in euros from an account in francs? Regards |

An account has a unit. This is the unit by default. You can create an operation in EURO in an account having its unit to F. You will have a warning. Because you already have all operations in F in your account, my advice is to set the unit of this account in EURO to avoid warnings when you will create new operations. |
