From KDE (as I did) or from Skrooge (as you did), at the end, this is the same.
If I well understand: - You have a sound from the "notification" panel on "Positive" notification. - You don't have sound when you click on "Add" on "Operation" page If this is the case, could you change the settings like this: ![]() The create a new operation in Skrooge, you should: - Hear a sound (this is what you are not able) - See a popup message (Just to check that notifications are working well) Regards. |

We are getting somewhere!
I still have no sound on the notification panel but by checking the boxes as you said l now have a sound when l enter a transaction however there is no difference in sound when l perform a positive or negative transaction. There is no sound when l modify a transaction, there is no sound when l delete a transaction. The pop up window only shows when l make an entry. In the Settings>configure notifications page l have checked the same 3 boxes for all of the four different actions, positive, negative, neutral and error but only have the same single sound only when l make the entry. |

GREAT!
In the notification setting page, at the right of the "Lire un son" you have the sound file to play. If you want different sounds, you must modify the settings and select different sound file for each category (positive, negative, error, neutral).
Normal, I didn't implement sound here. I will do it.

Strange, if you have the popup, you should have the sound too corresponding to the "positive" settings..
As I said, you must change the sound files. |

If you want different sounds, you must modify the settings and select different sound file for each category (positive, negative, error, neutral). , There are currently sounds listed... Oxygen-Sys-App-Message.ogg For neutral transactions , Oxygen-Sys_App-Positive.ogg ,Oxygen-Sys-App-Negative.ogg ,Oxygen-Sys-App-Error.ogg However only the one sound is emitted..if these sounds are available should they not play? I am still not able to play any sound in the Config.Notifications page. Where do l find these sounds in my files? The Pop Ups display a notification Box at the top right of screen as well as giving me a notification received status message at the bottom right bar. And they have sound! |

Hi,
If you don't have sound, this is may be due to missing sound file. Normally, the sound files are in /usr/share/sounds/ |

OK l have found the sound files but can not (do not know how) get them to work for Skrooge. I have gone to the Config notifications, clicked on, open dialogue box selected usr/share/sounds /selected the sound file/clicked open then clicked apply/ok in the config notifications....l then get an [ERROR-5] message |

Perfect, this is exactly what you need to do to change a sound. Take care, you must select a sound for the 4 categories. You can test the sound by clicking on play.
When? If you create an operation in Skrooge, you should have a sound |

After l have selected the sound file and imported it into the Skrooge Config Notifications and selected apply then OK....l get the ERROR-5 message displayed within the Skrooge desktop. Also when l press the "Play" button as suggested there is still no sound played and in the Skrooge application even though l have changed all the sounds l still only hear the same one generic sound. Could you give me examples of the transactions needed in Skrooge in order for the specific sounds to play? Pos, Neg. Neutral , Error? I am beginning to think there may be another setting somewhere that needs to be changed? Maybe in the Cinnamon/Mint files? |

Positive sound: When you create a new operation. This is for positive messages displayed in green on the top of the main panel.
Negative sound: When you create an operation in Dollar in an account in Euro. This is for warning messages displayed in amber on the top of the main panel. Neutral sound: This is for information messages displayed in blue on the top of the main panel. Error sound: When you delete an used unit (Euro, Dollar). This is for error messages displayed in red on the top of the main panel. |

Thanks Still no new sounds but l had noticed an ..........[error-1] The import mode wav is not yet implemented |

If you are this error "[error-1] The import mode wav is not yet implemented ", it means that you tried to open a wav file (so a sound file) with Skrooge.
I don't understand why and how you did that but Skrooge is not able to open sound files. |

My feeling is that, in your KDE setting you have associated sound file with Skrooge.
You can test it by double clicking on a sound file (wav, mp3, ogg), if Skrooge is opened it means that you have an association. You shouldn't have Skrooge associated with sound files. |

OK, I have removed the links to the wave sounds in the Config Notification boxes and replaced them with the ogg.sound files . Eg. ( /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Sys-App-Positive.ogg) Still no sounds |

Do you have sounds in Notification panel?
If NO then you have an issue in your system but I don't know where. If YES then you should have sound in Skrooge too. |

No sounds other than the one generic sound and the notification bars. I am looking at youtube for others that may have sound issues in the linux mint 18.3 and there is someone who has issues with no sound in a game..he has suggested the issue is in the Java program so l am looking into that. l realize your area of discussion is the Skrooge program but any help on where l might look would be appreciated. I am going to try loading another version of Linux or possibly a combination of the Beta 1.9.3 Skrooge as l did have sound if you recall in that version. Dave |
