move row

Wed Jul 25, 2018 2:04 am
i am not sure if im missing something obvious, but i cannot shift rows up and down. I would like to be able to have my rows displayed as the same order of my statements, but i can move them once they are created. If they have the same date, i cant move one to be before the other.
Ive not been able to find any information on this.
Thanks for any help.

This is not possible to reorder rows.

Is it possible to modify the time stamp on the row, in order to make it come before or after another entry on the same date?

No, but you can recreate the operations in the right order.

I have been recreating the operation in correct order to get it to be in correct sequence for multiple operations in a single date, I have recently upgraded to 2.17.0 and I am no longer able to recreate the operation and have it in order, no matter what I do, it has some strange random order for operations with same date.

You must click on the header of the "Balance" column to get the right order.

Hi there.
o..I wanted to donate some beer money and your donate only shows Liberapay which I wont use. Paypal is preferred.
o..Recently I tried GNUcash to see if it had improved over the years, but it is still the same non-user friendly application. Goodness me, they dont even have any levels of undo. Throughout Skrooge consideration is shown to the user and its interface and methods are all designed cleverly to make accounts as easy as possible. A good comparison would be in GNUcash when you add a new account, you need a starting amount. The starting amount is so convoluted, that alone would make a user inconvenienced.
Make a mistake, and the only way to fix is by referring to backups.
o..Anyway, my question is similar to this thread; how to move imported columns of data see below the Comment field needs to be moved to payee. I cant find anything in help to describe how? https://imgur.com/xoAvR0U

Best wishes, and regards from NZ, Alistair.

Hi,

If you want to move the content of column Comment into Payee, you can use the "Search & Process" rules.
Regards.

Skrooge Version 2.21.1
Problems, Im finding that search seems faulty in my version. The search that works is bank TSB which shows in search field some weird functions (from old searches). Search in Kiwibank does not work at all. Any ideas? Should I delete all previous searches and start again?
Thanks, Al.
The last image shows the contents of Kiwibank07 which complies with the search criteria.

Well eventually found it was working, but the hint box confused. EG the search hint says the word is case-insensitive so I thought my search:
(Account ='KiwibankNoticeS07' and Sub comment contains 'transfer')' would find any case of 'transfer' in sub comment, but it only finds 'transfer', not 'TRANSFER' this is a tad confusing.

Also, the process part has me confused - search is defined and finds, I add to Process (in search and process) Payee = Sub comment with expected behaviour Sub comments are copied to Payee on search but this doesnt happen; I get search results, but no Processing?

In your first screen capture, the is something strange. This is my fault (an unexpected impact of a modification).
You just have to modifiy (or delete an create) this rule.

Yes, search is case sensitive.

The "Search" button does only the search an open the "operation" page. This is useful to check if the rule will be applied on the right data set.
If you want the apply the modification, you must click on "Execute" (on the right just under the rule table). This is a menu, a long click will give you more option.

Oh, you should have received $NZ10 earlier today. If not, please advise (by paypal it was)

Ive been doing Execute with no change can you please check my image and tell me what Im doing wrong - Sub comment should replace Payee

https://imgur.com/wC5RkIL

Search is executing ok its the process thats not doing anything eg if I update is: Category='Empty' when press 'Execute All' nothing happens although there is a prompt lower left says 'Process Executed'. When the process is executed, is there a special method I need to view the modified account?

Slightly confusing is when you add the Update parameters, you have to press [Add] if [Modify] is pressed the search is removed.

Ive tried update on different accounts as well, even though search params are met.

IT IS FIXED!!
For some reason, I thought it must be working for you and Id tried everything here apart from a different computer.
Thats where the problem was, my laptop must be missing something that Skrooge needs because my desktop works the processing fine.

LATER
I reinstalled Skrooge on the laptop and now the actions work.

Sorry about that!
Alistair.
