Hi,
I am trying to install and try Plasma Active Two. But I am having a hard time to get it on my tablet. I have a Yarvik Tab 360. The tablet specs: Arm cortex A8 (amrv7 family, so should run Plasma Active) 512 mb ram 8" multi capacitive touch screen runs Android Gingerbread. What I basically would like to do is to wipe out Android and install Plasma Active. I already tried the steps to take to install Plasma Active mention in the links below but unfortunately it did not work for me. http://community.kde.org/Plasma/Active/ ... sma_Active http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/Install/MMC If there is someone out there with time please help me out. Thank you! Cheers |

The first thing you need to discover is if the bootloader on your device is capable of booting a different kernel than the one installed in the device. If is a closed bootloader then there is nothing we can do.
You can try these (slightly different from http://community.kde.org/Plasma/Active/ ... sma_Active) instructions: viewtopic.php?f=211&t=99154#p214395 Just make sure to backup the original kernel to be able to boot Android again.

Thanks for your answer. Any idea how I can figure out wether it is unlocked or not? So, it is not possible to wipe out everything on the tablet and instal plasma active? I don't care about not being able to go back to Android.
Thanks! |

From your first post I had the impression you would say something like that about going back to Android. Do not think like that. Your device is not supported yet, if it does not work property with Plasma Active you will need to go back to Android. After installing Plasma Active the main problem is finding drivers for the gpu (graphics card), wifi and maybe the sound card. If there is no opengl support for your device's gpu the device will not provide a good touch screen experience (slow to respond, dragging a window working erratically, etc). So keep the Android kernel, you may need it. Keep in mind that the instructions above may not work and even brick your device (unlikely, but it can happen). We assume no responsibility for any problem that may happen, ok?

Oh don't worry, its a cheap tablet that I bought with in my mind installing Plasma Active on it, that is why I don't care much about Android. Well I actually messed up the device already haha...I tried to install Plasma Active, which did not work, after that I went looking for Android ICS, found an update of a different manufacturer, but it was for a 7" tablet and mine is 8". So ICS boots up, but I have to tap on top of screen to click an app-icon that is listed below on screen, yea its because of the size difference and I can't go back to original Gingerbread because the manufacturer is so lazy to put a firmware on there website in case something goes wrong. But installing Plasma Active is still my main goal.
