Thanks for all info
The right module for touch should be loaded, because it works in other environments... the plasma active installation is not a separate one to the others? In that case it could be that something went wrong on the PA-install (but I don't think this happened)... The devs know about it - I saw a KDE Teatime recently where someone showed a Nexus 7 with Plasma Active: same thing, touch not working... So hopefully there will be a solution soon (maybe I get a nexus too then )
using PCLinuxOS 2010.7 KDE Version

Awesome photo Not sure what's wrong with the touch. The mouse cursor just doesn't follow your fingers?
At any rate, the Kubuntu folk'll be releasing plasma active images targetted at the nexus 7 starting from 13.04, so that's something to look forward to (http://quintasan.blogspot.com/2012/11/p ... ughts.html) |

It seems a problem with kwin or maybe with qt itself, because when i execute kwinactive_gles from console and when i touch the screen it says some like "you started a touchUpdate event witout a touchbegin ".
For what i know, touch events in Qt always start with a touchBegin. I looked a little at the qt doc for more info but i don't find the answer. Maybe this weedkend ill try to complile plasma active from svn and see if it works. Regards |

Plasma Active collaborates with Mer, not with Ubuntu really. So for PA, Mer is the best base. Drivers wise it shouldn't matter however - if some drivers work for Ubuntu, they would work for Mer - it's the same GNU/Linux underneath. However Plasma Active itself requires more than just working drivers I think. So some people from the Mer project were working on adapting Mer/PA to run Nexus 7 as far as I know. I'm still waiting for them to publish some images though.

Doesn't mean that the Kubuntu folks cannot make a good alternative image. PA is open technology after all. Canonical and Ubuntu are working specifically on getting the distro playing nice on the Nexus 7, so I'd be interested when the Kubuntu folks also release an image with PA instead of Unity on top. |

I'm sure, that when the stuff would be polished out, PA would be able to run on top of various distros there. But Mer project seems to be on the forefront of platform adoption effort for Plasma Active. Here Aaron Seigo mentions the collaboration between Plasma Active and Mer projects: http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2012/10/plas ... three.html

I've got Mer/Plasma Active dual boot with Android/Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my nexus7 , simply flash the MOSLO kernel to recovery instead to boot and ready .

Current devel of Mer/Plasma Active mostly doesn't work. Many applications crash like this:

Trying to follow the information to install multiROM and add plasma active rom, but it is's been a bit uphill.
* No information about how to get to "recovery mode" (select from bootloader menu, not that hard) * chrome can not download files from mediafire. Get firefox instead, or download from pc and move them to the nexus. * the multirom zip linked from the wiki is broken. Go to the xda thread and get the signed one (http://www.mediafire.com/?0lndsyd5rl9wu1e at the time of writing) * the plasma-201220109.zip is not selectable as a ubutntu type rom in the twrp recovery -> advanced -> multiROM -> add ROM page - in fact it is not displayed there at all. According to the xda thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2093797 linux OSes other than ubuntu and android should be flashed normally ("install" option in twrp recovery). ==> I'm in plasma active! Random first run expressions: - The main plasma active interface is quite nice, and actually works quite well and fluently. The launch-and-peak thing works well, except for a few things. - Had to set the wallpaper for the default activity - Can't browse, there is no way to enter text into the addressfield, a huge widget appears to block that. - Trying kpatience, but it won't work, freezes - How can i set acceptable font and icon sizes? - Tried kmail, and was able to set up an IMAP account and sync it, but I can't see the mails anywhere. Maybe after restart? Yes, some mails available after restart... But it is very difficult to understand how it is supposed to work. I do not understand that folder list, it is very odd. And not being able to view mail in my inbox makes the app useless. - The keyboard is horrible, why doesn't it go away when it is not needed? - I am not able to add my owncloud cal- and carddav resources, since korganizer does not make the paths right, looks like an out of date version of the template in the DAV groupware resource. (It looks for <owncloudserver>/remote.php, which does not work any longer). No testing of calendar and addressbook at this time. - The list of running applications looks horrible, the text labels are not cleared, so it looks like a typewriter where the paper is stuck, so the same line gets written over with new text... - Tried mable, but it is not marble touch - why not??? - Oh, marble touch is broken, it is a black area covering the screen... (tried starting it from konsole, which is actually working). Marble is crashing when zooming. - Calligra words active crashes when zooming, viewing the only document I can find in there. So does okular. - akregator actually appears to work, it didn't crash when zooming. The UI is a bit funny, but usable. - The lack of a working browser makes it hard to get some files to test with, as does the missing ability to connect to owncloud. - Sound works, after using a very unsuitable kmix to unmute and set the volume (controls too small to hit without luck and many attempts) - I can play both versions of the sintel trailer, quite impressive. - Like most apps, bangarang is very hard to use, with the desktop controls in itti-bitti-tiny sizes. This really can't be a touch application! The videos was not added to the list of recently played file in bangarangs media lists. - It seems to use power faster than it can recharge, connected to the laptops usb port :$ |
