Hello.
This post is about a tablet which has reasonable specifications and such a low price point that I think it would be quickly purchased by many Linux users as a tablet upon which to install Plasma Active. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a long time Linux and Kubuntu user who does not know much about "Linux coding", but have spent many years testing hardware with Linux and also testing applications. I am in possession of a tablet known as a "Kexi". It has reasonable specifications, is responsive to the touch, is reasonably "bright" when a book is read on it in "daylight" and finds wifi immediately, with, what I perceive, to be about a twenty foot range for wifi ( contrary to some net posts about the range being 8 ft. ). The camera is more than adequate for normal picture taking. Discussions about the tablet at the Kubuntu forums has indicated that the particular ARM processor deos not presently have a version in Plasma Active. This comment from "SteveRiley" at the forum.
Here is a technical specs overview. I think that for the user who wants to "test" installing Plasma Active the "multiple apps situation" would be of little concern. if nothing else, it could be considered to be an "install and forget" device that would be later given to a relative. The purchase price at Sears was 99 dollars USD a few days before this post. One person ahead of me purchased three of the tablets. K-mart had a 99 dollars USD price also. Because of the price point I think that if it would be reasonably possible to produce a version of the Plasma Active OS in a relatively short time period that a very large number of people, at least in the U.S., would purchase the device and install Plasma Active thereupon. I will, with this post, volunteer to install any and all betas on the device and report the results. I therefore wish to submit that the developers of Plasma Active place this particular processor in the que for consideration, and possibly move it up in the line in order to take advantage of what I perceive to be a large number of people that would install it on the device. Note: there is also a ten inch version but the price point will probably not be as low in the near future. Thank you very much for any consideration of this suggestion. woodsmoke |

Hi
just thought I'd bump this, I was at Sears and the price on the Zeki has dropped to 89 USD not because it is not selling but because it IS selling, apparently as a "loss leader". There are some posts around the net about a couple of people who have plasma active "kind of" on there but the process is daunting, to say the least. woodsmoke |
