I look for a tablet that is capable of running plasma active, with a decent user experience - preferably with hardware accelerated graphics. An important feature for me is that GPS must be working. I have been close to buying a archos g9, but I can't find information about GPS status with that one?

I think the question was about a tablet which can run Plasma Active and which has a working GPS module. I doubt there are lot's of options or even any.

There are many tablet related websites but these are the best.The Tablet PC Europe website is an expertise website.They have lot of reviews and you can write directly to them so that they can guide you!

I mean you can trust sites, but tablets which can run Plasma Active [relatively] normally can be probably counted on the fingers of one hand. And they are all known around. So there is no point to go far - just ask those who use them if GPS works there. On Nexus 7 for example it doesn't work yet, and it's probably the only practically available option now, that has 3D acceleration.

I was indeed hoping from guidence from someone using PA on one of the known devices.

It seems that many tablets use the same broadcom chip, that communicates via a propeietary protocol - MEIF, owned by Nokia. IIUTC, android have some software translating that to nema, but the source for that software is of course not available. There were attempts to get a driver for the chip into the linux kernel, but it was rejected because of the non-open data format.

What I don't know is if ALL the devices working with PA is hit by this... Anyone?

I need to still confirm which tablets run GPS as well as Plasma Active.I have never tried Plasma Active.

Some of the tablets in the list should run both GPS and Plasma Active well.
THE LIST WOULD JUST WIDEN BANDWIDTH FOR LOTS OF POSSIBLE TABLET OPTIONS,WOULD HELP YOU TILL SOME EXTENT AND THAT IS THE OBJECTIVE TO PROVIDE THE LINK TO THIS THREAD.I am just contributing whatever I can.

Looks in fact like there is a sort of possibilty there, if the firmware can be extracted from the nexus, which looks realistic to me. Then make the helper app work on stock linux (or rather, on mer linux)... Still considerng what to get, but this at least means that some of the devices with the broadcom chip could become usable
