Moin,

I did the update from Active Plasma One to Two on a Wetab with preparing an USB-Stick with unetbootin under Linux. This worked - with copying the 'Magic Bytes' onto the stick - very well. The same way I installed Kubuntu on this machine before.

Now it seems, that further booting from the USB-stick is impossible, probably because AP2 overwrites the bootloader 'plop'.

My wetab is used as a testdevice for to check out alternatives to the growing use of Ipads in education. Now I would like to install Ubuntu again.

The KDE-bootloader-app I found in the Apper, which maybe offers booting via USB, crashes permanently.
Can somebody please help me reactivating the USB-boot-possibility?

I'm unclear from your post: are you saying that:

1) you can no longer create bootable USB sticks with unetbootin?
2) your WeTab will no longer boot from the USB port
3) or something else?

(2) should always work, because that's part of the BIOS of the WeTab: press "BBS" while the WeTab is booting, then select the boot device (e.g. USB) by tapping on the ambient light sensor in the upper left.

Moin and Hi,

the Wetab didn't offered an option to boot from an USB-stick any longer (preparing the stick with unetbootin always worked and works fine). Pressing the 'Softkey' never lead to a menue, where I could choose USB.
The solution was to install the plop-bootmanager http://www.plop.at/de/bootmanagers.html again like here: http://wiki.wetab-community.de/index.php?title=Projekt_Windows_7_installieren_%28Dual-Boot:_WeTab_OS_/_Windows_7%29 The topic 'Plop Bootmanager ins WeTab OS integrieren' could be understood probably also by non-German speaking people.

From this view and because this this a PA2-Forum this topic could be marked as solved.

But: I thought, with plop I gain a permanent USB-boot-possibility like PC-mainboards have. That's what you meant?:

But: Either booting from an USB-stick on the WeTab offers many possibilities, why it doesn't work (brand of the USB-stick, wrong usage of the 'Softkey' or bad prepared boot-stick...), or you ALWAYS have to install a boot-manager like plop on this machine, because the WeTab doesn't have this option. ???

Plasma Active Two is cool, but in Germany a strong movement towards the use of Apple Ipads in education is taking place - and I wish AP would be ready to be a player in this game.
