So Asiego has just announced it over at:
http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2012/01/reveal.html

So what does everyone think this is going to be? What *are* all those ports shown in the photo, anyway?

Digging around in the public folder where that image came from, also revealed this image:
http://plasma.kde.org/media/firstboot.jpg
...which looks like it has a webcam on it. I've been holding off buying a phone / tablet because all of the platforms I've seen, seem to have their apps a little too locked down and seem a little too eager to collect all my personal behavior online. This looks like exactly what I've been waiting for! So, does anyone know any more about this device?

aseigo wrote that he would answer questions when he gets back from a biztrip.

I will hold off buying a tablet as well if I could get plasma active preinstalled and not have to go through the hassel of figuring it out myself. I'd be willing to spend extra money as well just to know it's going to work out of the box. It looks amazing. I've been wanting something like this for so long.

Is Peregrine communicator still developed, or the project got frozen? According to the screenshot, it's included in the Mer/Plasma Active for the upcoming Spark at least:

But the project had last commit in November 30, 2011: http://gitorious.org/peregrine

So will be there some audio/video XMPP/Jingle calls on the Spark (which has a camera), or not?

I hope it is, I want to see it re-adpated for Harmattan eventually.
And also working well in Plasma of course.

Thanks Shmerl...
Can you recall at what minute it's shown?
Is it Peregrine?

Nvm I watched it, I guess you weren't linking to it for that reason.
Bummer still can't get anything out of the Peregrine devs, they're so rude.

Yes, just posted for general review. The only reference to Peregrine I found on the screenshot above (which comes from the Spark site). May be someone on Plasma Active IRC has more clues.
