Hi, I am using Gwenview to view the contents of an image directory. I have selected to sort by date, but as I travel through the directory (using the left cursor key of my keyboard), some of the images keep repeating, even though there is only one instance of that image in the directory (like Gwenview really wants me to look at that one image a bunch of times).
If I close everything out, and reload, it still has the same behavior on those particular images which it had trouble with before (I tried deleting the thumbnail directory, but with no effect). I'm guessing there is some advanced setting somewhere flagging those particular images that is interfering with the smooth traveling through the directory, but I can't find it. Using Gwenview 2.8.3 BTW. Thanks! edit: I should mention that showFoto 2.6.0-rc works properly, and does not exhibit the same problem as Gwenview. |

That sounds strange indeed. Could it be caused by images having the same "shooting date" information? Can you look at the "date & time" fields in the sidebar?

There are serious problems with sort by date. One easily reproducable one is the mass image backup into another directory. I recently backed up a ton of stuff before installing the 12.04 Kubuntu version so I would have a nice clean install. Gwenview version is 4.8.4.
Several problems pop up using any backed up image directories and try to use sort by date. My guess is that gwenview uses the last accessed date or written to hd date not the original create date. Sort by name, then Sort by Date and you can click on pictures to highlight them in browse and the will shift around. If you have one highlighted and move around with the arrows the pictures shift nearly every keypress. This also happens when you call up the images to the screen and try to navigate through them. As stated before I believe the problem is that gwenview may be looking at the last accessed or the date the image was written to the hard drive. *Also, does gwenview call the sort on every action(keypress), rather than on necessary actions such as, setting sort by date, delete and moving/copying a new image into a directory? |

Please, let users to choose sort by file last modified order, using of Exif.Photo.DateTimeOriginal is not practical in some cases. Anyway, reading exif tags can take a lot of time with some thousand pictures on a slow hdd. Thanks.
