Hello,
Lately, I think after updating to KDE 4.10.3 (from the openSUSE 12.3 KDE 4.10 repo), video loading in gwenview has become very slow; it takes about a minute for a video to start playing in gwenview, where before it started playing immediately. Also gwenview becomes completely unresponsive while the video is loading, as does the desktop sometimes (though not reliably). Following advice in the openSUSE forums I switched to the version from the packman repos, but the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this? |

This could be caused by a problem in Phonon backends. Have you tried switching to the GStreamer backend if you are using the VLC one, or to the VLC backend if you are using the GStreamer one?

Yes that did it. Changing the preference from Gstreamer backend to VLC backend then loging out and back in fixed the problem.
Thanks so much! |
