Hi,
I use gwenview-4.6.5-4.2-mdv2011.0.x86_64, from the Mandriva rpm, atm, and have been enjoying its functions for a long time, tyvm. However, I am accustomed to viewing images without the exif rotation being applied. I've been switching my daily-use distro and what I use is Mandriva Linux release 2011.0 (Official) for x86_64. So, where I have always seen gwenview display images w/o auto-rotation, for some reason, it is now being applied. This is important to me when I want to use the images in applications that do not rotate automatically or some other reason and I want to rotate manually, to view how the image displays w/o auto-rotation. Now, I can see 'Auto-rotate/Flip Using EXIF Information' in Plugins > Images but don't see a way to turn this behavior off. Konqueror is my file browser. Following an old google result, I added [misc] autoRotateImages=false to the bottom of .kde4/share/config/gwenviewrc, closed/opened gwenview, but no change, logged out/in, but no change. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119653 Thanks, Rolf p.s. Do other KDE applications which display your images also follow the EXIF auto rotation metadata? I suspect this could be a behaviour change within Qt.

I tried a test with one photo taken sideways with results as follow:
Apps that auto-rotate: gwenview Image Viewer (Gpicview) Shotwell viewer embedded image viewer (gvpart) Apps that leave it alone: okular fotoxx gimp kolour paint embedded khtmlimage embedded okular (okularkimgio) Thanks. |

I suspect this may be a Gwenview specific behaviour then. Unfortunately there does not appear to be much you can do about it at this stage. Please be aware though that automatic rotation is expected behaviour in most instances though.
The only way to implement this behaviour at this point would be to request a feature allowing for automatic image rotation based on EXIF metadata to be disabled.
