GWENVIEW FULLSCREEN ISSUE: AND HOW TO FULLY RESET ALL GWENVIEW'S SETTINGS
This topic's question, related to Gwenview, didn't receive any answer at all some years ago, and I assume it has been solved by now. However I have been experiencing an issue with Gwenview in its 2019 February version, an issue that is very vaguely related to the above question, and, furthermore, it seems to be an issue that has not been mentioned in any of the relevant Linux forums. I searched for days in all the forums and didn't see anyone who had the following issue: Gwenview's F11 Fullscreen mode suddenly has got a bottom menu tool line, while that bottom menu tool line has vanished from the non-full screen mode. In other word, the issue, the problem, is that Gwenview's menues had got corrupted, and the toggling was inverse for the bottom menu line with such as the slider for percentage of size of image and the mentioning which image number is presently being viewed. This was not solved by any shortkey such as CTR-M, nor was it solved by rebooting the machine, restarting Gwenview in a number of contexts, or by clicking on the Fullscreen option via the mouse, nor was it reset by going into every possible relevant setting of Gwenview in the menues. Nor was it possible to right-click over the bottom menu bar, or move it by dragging it via the mouse. Nor was the issue solved when I ventered into the ~/.local/share folder and deleted anything there related to Gwenview. Nor was the issue solved when doing Bleachbit on the computer. Gwenview worked, in the meantime, in exact the same version and with the same images, on another computer I had with KDE Neon Linux. HOWEVER, the issue is now solved, and I wish to put it to the forum so that this can be used as a fix for those who, in the future, encounter the same issue, and also so that the developers of Gwenview can understand how to ensure that the future versions of Gwenview won't have this liability. To some, it wouldn't matter, but if you use the Fullscreen Gwenview e.g. in a business presentation, you certainly don't want information there that you have no control over. SOLUTION: Open Konsole. Type (be sure to not have a blank in the "gwenview*" phrase or settings for many more programs go)
This is the real reset of all of Gwenview's settings. The settings will now be just as when Gwenview was freshly installed. After this action, Gwenview has the correction F11 Fullscreen and the toggle and all works correctly. |
